From the past few months I've been trying to give myself from half an hour to an hour of free sketching after work everyday: no client vision involved, no self-judgement, no particular idea in mind, no purpose other than just practicing and letting my hand flow freely on the paper. It's been the most rewarding and healing thing I've done for myself in years.
For these study sessions I usually take videos/photos references from internet and photography catalogues (alas I don't have freedom of movement due to covid or enough time to go to life drawing sessions everyday). This is an example of some sketches based on the work of my favorite contemporary photographer: Polly Alderton. I feel so connected with her vision of the world: the subtleties of daily life, the poetry in the rawness of childhood, the storytelling of human relationships... Just go enjoy her art :)
