La Madriguera 🐀🐀🐀

Still processing what happened over the past couple of weeks at @tallerlamadriguera... This art residency has given me SO much more than I could ever imagine :.) I learnt a myriad of new techniques thanks to the generosity and guidance of the wonderful Paula Bonet, confirmed my eternal love for oil painting after 15 years since the last time I used it, discovered new authors, writers and painters, strolled around beautiful Barcelona and met the most amazing humans along the way! This experience has reignited a creative fire in me and I’m willing to keep this flame burning. Manifesting to have my very own little painting studio at some point in the future 🔥🔥🔥

Sigo experimentando un poco con la técnica de transfer sobre papel vegetal con disolvente. Investigando diferentes efectos e intensidades que se pueden conseguir :) 

Del montón de imágenes que he utilizado como matriz, algunas son mías y otras de artistas que admiro profundamente como Joao Ruas, Jacob Aue Sobol o Ryan McGinley. :)

Por cierto, ¡hoy de nuevo tengo el honor de haber servido de inspiración con uno de mis trabajos! Maritza ha publicado en su blog "Expresión Gráfica" un dibujo basado en una de mis fotos de la anterior entrada, si tenéis curiosidad por verlo pinchad en: Expresión Gráfica. :)

I keep trying and investigating the different and interesting results of the transfer technique :) I've been using as matrix images some of my pictures and also from different artists that I truly admire such as Joao Ruas, Jacob Aue Sobol or Ryan McGinley.

Investigando los posibles resultados del transfer de calor, esta vez con unas fotografías que hice el año pasado y a las que les tengo cierto cariño :)

¡Seguimos experimentando con nuevos materiales! Estos son algunas de las cerca de 40 pruebas que he hecho esta semana con transfer. Esta técnica, como su propio nombre indica, permite "transferir" una imagen cualquiera sobre un soporte cualquiera. Existen muchos modos de hacerlo: aplicando calor, utilizando látex, escayola... y también muchos soportes posibles (aunque es preferible usar los que sean porosos: papel, tela, madera...) Estos en concreto están realizados con disolvente sobre papel de cebolla y luego pegados sobre papeles de diferentes tonalidades. Las imágenes que he utilizado son todas fruto de mis devaneos por internet y quería darle el tema común de la ciudad y la confusión.

Como técnica se pueden obtener resultados muy diferentes y, a pesar del "microclima" que deja a su paso (aún teniendo las ventanas abiertas de par en par mi habitación pasó horas oliendo a disolvente XD) es muy interesante.

Creo que la utilizaré en alguna otra ocasión, aunque más que para buscar resultados finales, prefiero usar el transfer para investigar con las composiciones, las formas, las posibilidades de una imagen... como bocetos previos para luego crear una imagen puramente mía con dibujo o con otra técnica. Porque esto de utilizar imágenes ajenas, aunque el resultado sea totalmente diferente al superponerlas y tratarlas, no va demasiado conmigo.

I continue experimenting with new materials! These are some of the about 40 experiments I've done this week with transfer. This technique, as its name suggests, allows you to "transfer" any image on any support. There are many ways to do it: applying heat, using latex, plaster... and also on many different types of paper, wood, cloth... (but it's always preferable to use it on porous media). These are specifically made with solvent and "onion paper" and then pasted on paper of different colors. The images I used are all the result of my wanderings on the internet and I wanted to give them the common theme of the city and the confusion.

With this technique you can get very different results and, despite the "microclimate" that it leaves behind (even with my windows open wide my room spent hours solvent smelling XD) is very interesting.

I think that maybe I'll use it some other time, but, even more than to find final results, I prefer to use transfer for investigating with composition and the possibilities of an image... like a preliminary sketch that allows me to do a drawing purely mine. Because I don't like very much using other people images, even if it gets a very different result superimposing and treating them , I prefer to do them myself.
